Here’s Rihanna leaving her London hotel. She seems to be getting into this trend of wearing short-shorts with loooong button-down shirts that she stuffs under the short-shorts. I’m not sure I’m a big fan of this trend. And Rihanna topped off the ensemble with thigh-high leather boots. That’s Rihanna for you.

Kristen Stewart was spotted arriving in Paris at the Charles de Gaulle Airport, but I have to say, she doesn’t look thrilled to be in the City of Lights. I wonder what’s got the ‘Twilight’ star so down? Maybe it was seeing the waiting paparazzi. Well, perhaps Kristen will enjoy herself once she gets to her hotel or something. Maybe boyfriend Robert Pattinson will be able to join her for a romantic evening, if he’s wrapping up promoting ‘Bel Ami’! That should be a smile to her face.

Grammys 2012: Best Dressed Top 10

Tonight’s Best Dressed were not the usual suspects. With Beyonce on Mommy duty and Kanye West not in attendance, there was room for newcomers and unexpected divas to get the attention they deserve. But before I jump into the list, I have to single out some of the “whoa, huh, what?” moments.

As usual there was a lot going on in terms of fashion at the Grammys. Nicki Minaj hit the red carpet shrouded in a voluminous, hooded crimson get-up embroidered with what looked like the Versace crest. Her date? An impersonator of the Pope. Meanwhile, Fergie, who picked up a Grammy for co-writing Kanye and Rihanna’s hit “All of the Lights” showed up in black underwear covered by a completely see-through lace dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. I think nude underwear or even undies the same color of the lace would have been way more appropriate, or how about a slip? We did not need to know Fergie wears granny panties.

In terms of trends, three-quarter sleeves, and embroidery/embellishment were huge, gladiator-reference jewelry too with Alicia Keys and Gwyneth Paltrow rocking a heavy gold neck plate and belt, respectively. And now, without further adieu, here are my Top 10 Faves. As always, let me know who I left off the list.

1. ADELE

Going into the telecast with six nominations, Adele is the bride of the night, and every bride looks gorgeous on her wedding day, no matter what she wears. From the thick tumble of curls framing her face to the slash of red lipstick to her glittering three-quarter-sleeved custom Giorgio Armani gown, she has never looked better. What’s even cooler about the look is that it remains true to her trademark penchant for retro black dresses. It would seem hard to keep such a classic look fresh, but she pulled it off.

2. TAYLOR SWIFT

Taylor Swift tops my list just for ditching her usual Shirley Temple ringlets and princess dress. With her hair swept up and away from her beautiful face, her high-collared embroidered Zuhair Murad gown looks even more stunning on her.

3. KELLY OSBOURNE

Perhaps she just doesn’t want to hear it from E! Fashion Police co-host Joan Rivers, but this Red Carpet season Kelly Osbourne is 3 for 3. From the sharp-shouldered Zac Posen stunner she wore to the Golden Globes to the elegant white Badgley Misckha gown she donned for the SAGs to tonight’s sparkling one-shoulder gown by Tony Ward, she keeps getting better and better.

4. PARIS HILTON

This Basil Soda gown was made for Paris Hilton! The cap-sleeves show off her long, toned arms, and the elongated mermaid really silhouette flatters her shape. Who knew Paris Hilton had a little Sofia Vergara going on?

5. CORINNE BAILEY RAE

Corinne’s Christian Siriano dress perfectly evokes the spunk of the Grammy Awards.

6. GWYNETH PALTROW

Between her slicked back ponytail and the cut-out detail of her Stella McCartney gown, this is one of my fave looks on Gwyneth. Ever!

7. LEDISI

The Best R&B Album nominee hit the awards show in a gorgeous sequin gown with herringbone detail.

8. RIHANNA

For tonight’s live telecast, Rihanna let go of the red and returned to blonde, channelling Michelle Pfeiffer’s Scarface character Elvira Hancock in this gown she co-designed with Giorgio Armani. “We’ve been working together a long time, he trusts me now [sic],” Rihanna told Ryan Seacrest on E!’s pre-show. The gold cuff and clutch perfectly accessorize the look.

9. KATY PERRY

This embroidered Elie Saab dress could have felt bridesmaid-y because of the bow and color, but with the blue updo, Katy Perry is rocking.

10. MARSHA AMBROSIUS

Between her embroidered silver mini with matching metal pumps, and her curly red bob which matches her manicure, Ambrosius looks more than ready for her close-up.

Top Grammy Fashion Moments

I’ve always been a huge fan of music’s biggest night, but not necessarily because of the songs – it’s all about the fashion!  In anticipation of this Sunday’s big show, I’ve compiled my top Grammy fashion moments below.  Do you agree with my picks?

Carrie Underwood Zahir Murad

Carrie Underwood, 2008 (Zahir Murad)

The American Idol superstar wowed Grammy viewers in 2008 when she floated down the red carpet in a gorgeous floral gown by Zahir Murad. Though the dress was very hippie-chic, the singer incorporated her country roots by rocking teased, blonde Nashville hair. The look was fresh and different, and helped the singer stand out from the rest of the Red Carpet divas. Definitely one of the best Grammy fashion moments of the past decade!

Lady Gaga Giorgio Armani Privé

Lady Gaga, 2010 (Giorgio Armani Privé)

Though this fashion moment was a little out there (literally – it looked like Gaga was the sun at the center of a sparkly solar system far, far away…), there was something quite beautiful about it. The look perfectly captured Gaga’s otherworldly influence over the masses, and yet catapulted her into the style stratosphere. I’m not sure anyone else could have pulled off this ensemble, but Gaga did with elegance and artistry. I much preferred this to the egg/womb compartment in which the singer appeared during the 2011 Grammy Red Carpet. That was a little TOO out there…(I mean, IN there? Whatever…).

Rihanna Zac Posen

Rihanna, 2008 (Zac Posen)

Everything about Rihanna’s 2008 Grammys look was perfect: the choppy, pixie haircut, the fresh, simple makeup, and of course, the statement-making, blue Zac Posen dress. The modern, fresh frock was perfect for RiRi: she looked really lovely and comfortable in the look. It can be a challenge to make a fashion statement at the Grammys, between the sea of floor-length gowns, grungy, rocker ripped jeans, and avant-garde ensembles, but Rihanna totally stood out! Hope she rocks an equally awesome ensemble this year!

Beyoncé Elie Saab couture

Beyoncé, 2008 (Elie Saab couture)

Beyoncé looked stunning when she stepped out in an ice blue Elie Saab couture gown for the 2008 awards. The gorgeous dress hugged the diva in all the right places, and looked stunning against her glowing skin. The singer balanced her structured gown with perfectly highlighted, loosely waved locks, and bold smoky eyes. Though Beyoncé has attended countless Grammy ceremonies, (and has looked amazing each year), her 2008 look was definitely the most memorable!

Jennifer Lopez Versace

Jennifer Lopez, 2000 (Versace)

My number one Grammy fashion moment is, what else, J. Lo’s legendary green Versace dress from 2000. When “Jenny from the Block” made her way across the Grammy stage, jaws dropped around the world. Between the “neckline” which plunged below her navel, to the “slit” which went up to her, um, navel, Lopez’ dress left little to the imagination. Adding to the memorable look was the singer’s date for the evening: Diddy (née Puff Daddy), who donned a classic khaki suit to escort his lady down the red carpet. Though these two had been together for a number of months, this appearance sealed the duo’s “Power Couple” status. Wonder if anyone will EVER top this look…

Do you agree with my picks? Let me know!

Who will look the hottest on the Red Carpet this year: Adele? Lady Gaga? Rihanna? Can’t wait to find out!  Don't forget to follow @bluefly_com during Sunday's Red Carpet and Grammy Awards telecast - I'll be live tweeting (#carlybf)!

Thank Heaven for the Little Girls’ Department

Remember the Sex and the City episode, when Samantha finds out that her less then average size date shops at the young men’s department at Bloomingdales. Lets be honest, that might be a bit of a mood killer. But is it a double standard? I have a confession to make. I do it. I shop at Gap Kids. I’ve even been known to buy a gap kids shoe. Mock if you must, but before you do, you should know that a girls 4.5 is somehow equivalent to a Women’s 5 ½. My closet is proof. Not only can you save A LOT of money by acting on this little style secret, but there is actually really CUTE style to be found in the girls department, in some cases, cuter then what the older crowd has to offer.

Case in point: Target. I’ve spent many an hour in the girls dept at Target; their pants fit be better then some designer clothes, and their dresses are adorable, if I can find the biggest size. I recently found this amazing dress in the Gwen Stefani for Mini Harujuku collection. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was the Alexander Mcqueen I had recently seen on Rihanna, so I scrambled for the XL, and in my shopping bag it went. I wore it to a 30th birthday party last weekend with black skinny jeans and chunky boots. Everyone loved it, and I got a million compliments. Others might take that opportunity to plead the 5th, and say thank you, but I proudly admitted my place of purchase. Perhaps because I’m not the tallest girl in the group, it became acceptable, and maybe charming. Or maybe some style just bridges the gap between girl and woman. Either way, I’m thankful for it.

Worst Fashion Collaborations of 2011

Sure, Missoni for Target was awesome — but with a website that didn’t even work, who cares? And did we really need another Kardashian product line? #EnoughAlready. Normally we’re all for designer collaborations, but this year 11 ended up on our naughty list. See them all (and where they went wrong)  right here.

Rihanna Shines On Stage

Okay, I’m definitely putting Rihanna tickets on my Christmas list next year. After seeing all these pics of her rocking out all across the globe, the pop princess definitely knows how to put on a show!

On Wednesday night, Rihanna hit the stage at London’s famous O2 Arena. Styled in her bold and bright costumes, RiRi had the time of her life as she pumped up the crowd and jammed out to her chart-topping hits.

Although the “We Found Love” singer just dropped an album last month, is it too much to ask for another fabulous smash next year? I just can’t get enough!

Tartan Is the New Black

As you can see above, every celebrity and there mama has been photographed in the “it” holiday dress of 2011: McQ’s tartan mini dress. Rihanna rocked it onstage, Emma Watson with a leather motorcycle boots, and the adorable Chloe Moretz with ankle booties. If that doesn’t convince you that the dress is 1) versatile and 2) something you can pull off the, then I don’t know what will. Unfortunately, the original is sold out, but we found several other tartan confections for you — include some small accessories for the plaid-shy.

Leather Legging Alternative: Coated Jeans

From left: Rihanna, Blake Lively, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie

I’ve been suffering from the internal struggle regarding leather pants: they’re flattering, warm, and definitely a whole lot more sophisticated than liquid leggings (no judgement though, I’m currently wearing a pair). The only problem, however, is that they’re ridiculously expensive (as we learned from the pair of red leather J Brands with a mysterious $500 markup).

Luckily, coated jeans (also known as “wax denim”) has been popping up all over the celebrity circuit—everyone from RiRi to Nicole Richie has been photographed wearing them. And priced at hundreds of dollars less than the leather variety, we’ll definitely be snagging a pair of our own…
