Nothing Like a Little Nude

Nude Shoes

Pull a Kate (Middleton that is) with a beautiful nude pump, because every princess knows how important it is to have your go to nude shoe. Just like the LBD, all girls should own a nude shoe, whether it be a basic pump, a summer sandal, or a simple ballet flat. We have rounded up the best of the nudes (no, not THAT kind of nude) so don’t hesitate – invest in the one shoe that will match literally everything in your wardrobe. Bright, printed wrap dress at work? Pair with a nude heel. Neon skinny jeans? Go for a nude flat. Floral dresses and skirts? A basic nude sandal will pull it together. Personally, owning a nude in every style would not be a bad idea.

Don’t forget to shop other fashion guides such as the mint skinny jean trend, , and floral skirts for May!

Does this Mean No More Carla Bruni-Sarkozy & Michelle Obama Photo Ops?

First Ladies: Michelle Obama with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Strasbourg, France

Michelle Obama with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Strasbourg, France on a trip planned for NATO Members' spouses in April 2009

I have to admit ignorance about the particulars of French politics, but when French President Nicolas Sarkozy conceded the election this weekend to Francoise Hollande, I felt a pinch of sadness that I’ll no longer see images like this one of Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, partially because it will mean less coverage of international politics on fashion blogs and sartorially-focused news sites.

The last five years have been a magical time for news junkie style folks. Between Michelle Obama’s oft-documented impact on the fashion industry, making household names of niche designers and brands like Jason Wu and Zero Maria Cornejo, and injecting relevance in formerly fading retailers like J. Crew, Anna Wintour hosting fundraisers for Obama, and blogs feverishly cataloging the sartorial choices of Michelle Obama, Bruni-Sarkozy, and that of Duchess Kate Middleton, style coverage has extended (albeit tangentially) to substantive issues.

Yes, Michelle Obama was wearing a Balenciaga sheath, for instance, but more importantly, she was wearing it at an event for Girls, Inc., an org committed to equipping young girls with all they need to be tomorrow’s leaders. Suddenly, my favorite fashion blogs were covering the G8 summit. cared to explain the blinging poppy brooch Kate Middleton’s been wearing is a symbol of the Royal British Legion Charity, much like the pink ribbon is to Breast Cancer awareness. Of course, this was the case when Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan were in the White House and when Princess Diana was using her celebrity to bring attention to charitable causes around the globe including landmines, but the glam trifecta of Michelle, Carla, and Kate has brought triple the attentiveness.

Hopefully, this crossover coverage won’t suffer with the inauguration of France’s new First Couple Francois Hollande.Even more hopefully, the coverage will become deeper than what they wore where, but expand to the issues that are important to fashion like how KORUS will negatively or positively impact the textile sector. I just Google Imaged his partner Valerie Trierweiler and she’s not too shabby a dresser either.

Congratulations to the more than lovely royal couple! This weekend marks one year since they wed (April 29th is exactly 1 year) and it has gone way too fast. I hope they have many many more anniversaries to come!

Happy Anniversary weekend!

No Fascinators Allowed at the Ascot

Kate Middleton wears a red fascinator

Kate can't wear this hat--or dress--to the Ascot

Some potentially bad news for Princess Beatrice, Kate Middleton, and the rest of the posh set that frequent the Ascot. This year, fascinators have  been banned from the Royals’ section of the Ascot–one of the most exclusive pastimes of the British aristocracy–as have bare midriffs, strapless dresses, and dresses that don’t fall below the knee. Apparently, the stricter code for the upcoming June event is in reaction to “the proliferation of provocative outfits, outrageous accessories and revealing tops” in recent years. Of course, the Queen can wear whatever she wants.

Rockin’ the Carpet: Lea Michele, Kate Middleton & Zooey Deschanel

These beauty queens rocked the red carpet.

Zooey Deschanel knows just how to dress for her part, doesn’t she? She just looks perfect for her show ‘New Girl’ in this outfit. I’m not normally big on prints, but I’m LOVING that skirt! During the interviews, ‘New Girl’ executive producer said things were going to “get heavy” when Nick gets injured and Jess (Zooey’s character) has to take him to her gynecologist for treatment. Heavy? Okay… Do you watch ‘New Girl’?

‘Glee’ star Lea Michele wore a very bright blue dress to the FOX All StarWinter Press Tour party. She isn’t afraid of bright colors, nor should she be: Lea looks fantastic!

At the TCA interviews it was confirmed that there would NOT be a ‘Glee’ spinoff but that Lea, at least, is expected to return to the series next season, even though her character will graduate. That should be interesting.

On Jan. 8, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge braved the rain as they walked the red carpet at the London premiere of War Horse. While Prince William looked dapper in his slick suit, he played the role of doting husband to wife Kate Middleton, as he held an umbrella over her. Dressed to impress the Duchess (and Birthday Girl), stunned in floor-length Alice Temperley gown.

Question remains:

Which look would you wear?

Happy 30th Birthday Kate Middleton!

Can’t wait to see what Kate Middleton brings to her future style! Clearly, she always know what to wear!

Favorite Fashion Moments of 2011

2011 was full of many great fashion happenings! I thought the best way to represent my favorite moments was with one of my favorite things of 2011…the art of gifs!

How can you not love the epic collaboration of 2011 that was Versace and H&M? Between the fashion show and the advertisements, it was talked about everywhere! Can’t wait for the spring collection!

Of course you can’t talk about the year in fashion without mentioning the Fashion Weeks. They are weeks of fun and creativity! Thankfully next season starts soon!

Anything involving Rick Genest this year was phenomenal. I am so intrigued by who he is! Plus, he was in Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ video! You can’t get much cooler than that!

I love me some Victoria’s Secret angels! The fashion show was glitter-tastic! The response on Twitter was the same! Everyone enjoyed watching the likes of Chanel Iman, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and the rest of the gorgeous bombshells strut their way into everyone’s fantasies!

You either love her fashion choices or you hate them. I actually enjoy them! I think they help express her creativity. My favorite was definitely the Chanel dress she wore to the opening of Gaga’s Workshop at Barney’s.

Ah, the Royal Wedding! We all wanted to see who Kate would wear. I think she gracefully made the right decision!

Even though the wedding and marriage was a bust, the three wedding dresses Kim wore were gorgeous! Too bad it was all for nothing!

This year was the year of Francisco Lachowski! He was everywhere! He’s easily my favorite model of 2011.

Dress Like Kate Middleton During the Holidays

So you’ve got a fistful of invitations to holiday parties, all requiring “festive attire.” What will you wear? There’s no need to break out the Christmas sweaters (unless it’s that kind of party, in which, click here for some ideas.)

Just think “What would Kate wear?” After all, the girl-next-door-turned duchess has dressed her way to the top of Best Dressed lists this year, overcoming parties with some pretty imposing guests lists–ahem, Obamas. She always looks flawless and amazing, so get yourself over to Reiss, where you can get the same exact or similar dresses in Kate Middleton’s style.

The best part is, you can wear them over and over again–to work and other parties, year-round.
