If the first few Fall 2012 collection showings are any indication, colorblocking and texture will be the big trend storis to come out of this season. Last night, Belgian menswear designer Tim Coppens, winner of the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award, presented strong plays on both trends.
Fingerless and handless gloves composed of contrasting colors punctuated crisp white shirts, creamy embossed knits, chocolate fur bombers, supple black leather Members Only style jackets, and camel anoraks blocked with cashmere sleeves. In sum, it was sport couture at its best. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the militaristic colorblocked vest and chocolate bomber hit the streets next fall.
