Olympian Sarah Robles Loves to Wear Jill Alexander

Olympic weightlifter Sarah Robles was determined to find something to fit her 275-lb frame.  She was disappointed that she could not find the right clothes to fit her body type and sense of style.

Jill Alexander, who specializes in clothing for plus-size women, was able to help.  Alexander and Robles got together and created a collection for Robles for interviews and press events.  “She’s the perfect role model,” says Alexander.  “She’s one of the top athletes in the world. She’s not unhealthy, she’s not lazy, but she has trouble finding clothes that fit well. She’s empowering women to speak out and say, ‘I deserve better from the fashion industry.’”

Robles loves the clothing. “I packed one of her yellow wrap [dresses] with fun dots and squares on it, along with a taupe lacey top,” says Robles. “They make me feel gorgeous, confident and flirty.”  Sarah is on a mission to change the way plus sized women and girls view themselves. GO SARAH!

Happy Birthday Mr.Timberlake!

Today marks the 31st birthday of the former teen heart throb Justin Timberlake.

Its amazing to see the transformation he has made with his own personal style over the years from a boy-band-hunk to now a glorified male style icon! I must admit to having my own bedroom plastered with N’Sync posters at one time. Although Justin was not my personal favorite, what can I say I had a thing for J.C., he was the dream boy of almost every teen girl at one point or another.

Now he has matured into the role of loving fiance to Jessica Beil, and a talented Hollywood actor and musician. Along with his stardom that has never seemed to fade over the years, it is also clear that Justin’s style has evolved as well, swapping his denim jumpsuits for Prada suits. In 2005 Mr.Timberlake himself stepped foot into the fashion world when he launched the award winning fashion brand William Rast with partner Trace Ayala.

Have a very happy birthday, Justin!

Will Your Klout Score Render Anna Wintour Obsolete?

Stylecaster brought up a great point–the influencers in fashion are definitely changing. With the rise of opinions floating around on social media and the ability for the networks give a voice to people who would normally go unheard, everyone is listening to what you have to say.

I don’t know about you, but I check my Klout score on the daily; actually, multiple times a day! I am always giving +K’s and cross my fingers to receive them as hardcore social media users judge you based on your Klout score. It has complete validity in how much your opinions matter and what topics you’re influential in.

Will this score change the way people are seated a fashion week? Will a new group of people lead the trendsetting? MAYBE! I’m pretty sure Anna Wintour doesn’t have to worry about losing her job at the moment, but you never know what the future will hold!

Based on Klout scores, Stylecaster filled an imaginary fashion show:

“Front Row: Kim Kardashian rules at 91, while Paris Hilton (88) andKanye (78) round out the top three.

Second Row: Nina Garcia leads the charge at 71, with Brad Goreski andRachel Zoe trailing at 69 and 68 respectively. (Um, awkward — let’s hope Nina sits in the middle.)

Third Row: Joe Zee and Andre Leon Talley would find themselves wedged between fashion bloggers Bryanboy (67) and Man Repeller (66) . (Yay! They can have an arm party!)”

Who would you want to see sitting front row? Who’s opinion would you trust!?

Vending Machines for Flats? In America? FINALLY!

Perez Hilton wrote about these amazing roll-up flats that were sold, in Europe, in a vending machine TWO YEARS ago and I have been lusting after them ever since.

@Fashionalities reported on Twitter that these vending machines are finally coming to a bar near you!! And you don’t even need a passport to experience the glory that is vendor flats.

Of course, these aren’t the most “glamourous” or trendy flats you’ll ever find but boy-oh-BOY are they convenient!!

Perez is reporting via Coco Perez that these vending machines, from Rollasole, will be coming to the Colony nightclub in LA in December and then to the Vanity nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. They’re 20 bucks a pair and he claims they’re stylish enough to wear on their own — I don’t think so, but then again I’m an NYC girl and you know how picky we can be ;).

Would you buy flats from a vending machine? You can check out designs here.

Re-Wearing Is the New Re-Gifting, Lauren Conrad Says So

December is, like, so socially overwhelming. Personally, I’m dealing with Christmas, my 24th birthday, Hanukkah (shout out to all my fellow half Jews), New Year’s parties, work holiday functions, friend’s holiday get togethers and Britney Spears’ 30th Birthday. And while all of these celebrations would love to get a Tom Ford suit of their own, it’s just not going to happen.

But don’t let your social obligations this year cause you fashion anxiety – Lauren Conrad says so. Like re-gifting, re-wearing is in this season. Here are the steps you need to take to make this work:

1. Invest in one great piece. I’m going to choose this $850 sequined blazer by Unconditional.

2. Accessorize! Maybe if I wear a muted tie with this blazer at my work holiday party, my coworker will never notice I’m also wearing the blazer when she comes to my birthday party.

3. Layer! Maybe if I gingerly wrap a bohemian scarf around my neck, it will tone down the sequins so that you don’t really notice the sparkle in Facebook photos from New Years next to the tagged photo of me in the blazer at my friend’s wine and cheese party a few weeks earlier.

4. Blame Lauren Conrad when people start whispering about you at one of your many events.

Alright, so maybe we’re being a bit dramatic and Lauren Conrad does have a point (or a new line for Paper Crown to hawk). Maybe a sequined blazer isn’t the best piece for repeated value…but it certainly is festive.

A Second Event in One Night for Lady Gaga: International Emmy Awards

Lady Gaga didn’t just cut the ribbon at Barney’s; she also made a surprise appearance at the International Emmy Awards! She presented ‘American Idol’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ executive producer Nigel Lythgoe with the honorary International Emmy Founders Award. Lady Gaga said:

“He has always helped to nurture and foster my ideas, no matter how crazy or demographic-unfriendly they may have been. He always spoke poetically about the pursuit of widening the boundaries of love and acceptance in TV.”

When Nigel accepted the award, he mentioned frenemy Simon Cowell.

“I now call Simon Lord Voldemort because he must not be named because every time I name him the press say that we’re enemies and we’re fighting each other. That’s not true at all. Simon has no enemies whatsoever in the world. He just has a lot of friends who hate him.”

He also said of Lady Gaga is “the most creatively talented woman in the world of show business right now.”

Sounds like it was a great event!

Are you pleased with Lady Gaga's look?
