Happy Wednesday, and welcome to this week’s edition of Mindy’s Wearing.
Last week was a short one for me as I had a wedding to attend back home in Hawaii, but I did attempt a sport-theme trend specifically around dresses.
Monday:
First of all, this dress rocks! The color, the simple cut (but with draping!), and the black elastic belt — I LOVE IT. It’s a Wyatt dress and I highly recommend it. (At the time I’m writing this we only have one dress left, so this drapey turquoise Wyatt style is another alternative — you have to add the belt though.) The jersey material and elastic belt put it naturally on the sporty side, while the bright orange color reminds me of my childhood Body Glove cropped tops and volleyball shorts. I dressed up this look with DVF platform sandals, Chamak bangles, and Bing Bang gold dome cocktail ring.
Tuesday:
This look was inspired by the sporty trend shown on the runway. I paired a black knit dress with my Fendi belt, Chloe booties, and Fendi bag. I also got a bit adventurous with a couple of Chan Luu wrap bracelets and a Hermes black cord gold hook bracelet. I especially love the zipper that runs up the middle of the dress which reminds me of wet suits. Before Tuesday, I had always worn this dress to go out — as more of a body-con look — so, I was pleased to be able to work it from a different point of view.
Wednesday:
This is a ‘yacht-y sport’ look. I’m normally not the preppy type, but I liked this Twenty8Twelve dress when I first saw it onsite last year and it has been a great addition. It works well on its own, but can also be dressed up with a blazer (and in the fall with black tights). On Wednesday, I wore the Twenty8Twelve dress with a Bing Bang gold dome cocktail ring, DVF platform sandals, and my Fendi bag.
I hope you all have a great week — this week, I’ll be working short hemlines. The weather here in New York is insanely hot and humid, so short skirts and shorts will be perfect and summery.

Happy Monday and welcome back to my last week of 1 item, 5 ways — at least for the next couple of months. Beginning next week, I’ll showcase 1 runway trend, 5 ways, starting with neutrals. I have a list started that includes sequins/shine, digital prints, blues/greens, animal prints, haute hippie, and military-inspired, but please feel free to offer trends you’re curious about — especially the impossible ones, I always LOVE a good fashion challenge.
Anyway, getting on with last week though — I wore a velvet cobalt blue blazer last week and the weather totally did cooperate!! I was able to wear my blazer comfortably every day, which was fantastic.
MONDAY:
I wanted to start the week in blue. So I wore a sheer blue floral print Marc Jacobs top and AG skinny jeans with my blue blazer . I accessorized with an YSL muse bag, and DVF platform sandals.
TUESDAY:
After the Monday’s blue look, which I think ended up a bit artsy, I went in an entirely different direction on Tuesday. I wore a black tank and black mini skirt with a Fendi waist belt under the blue blazer. The Fendi belt is from a few fall seasons ago — the thick ribbed detail on it is pretty cool and reminiscent of bullets; I love it. I finished off the look with these YSL gold wedges and my muse bag. I love how the blue pops on the black and the best part — my husband remarking that I looked classier than usual. ;)
WEDNESDAY:
I felt like wearing something vintage-y on Wednesday so I put on a grey linen leopard print dress under my blue blazer. I accessorized with Chamak bracelets and tan Louboutin platform sandals.
THURSDAY:
I had a very special birthday dinner to attend on Thursday after so I wanted to wear something fun. I wore a sequin tank and black satin shorts with my blue blazer. Adding the espadrilles kept the outfit summer-y and a little more casual – as opposed to heels, which is what I would have worn if I was going directly to the party – and I brought out my Fendi spy bag.
FRIDAY:
This was a very last minute decision. Originally I had planned to wear a pink Wildfox tee and AG jeans with my blue blazer, but at the last minute decided to go in a girlier direction. I wore an ethnic-print dress which I dressed up with my Fendi skinny belt, Chamak bangles, and black patent YSL gold wedges. Of course, the violet muse bag matched perfectly.

Last week I wore a black and white zebra print Cielo tank that’s not only comfy, cute, and perfect for the hot months ahead, but also pretty versatile. I tried dressing it up and down some to show its range — enjoy!
MONDAY:
Print on print — this is something I rarely do naturally, but since I’m blogging and trying to hit on major trends, I went for it. I paired the Cielo tank with a digital-print skirt and DVF platform sandals. I also threw on a couple of Chamak bangles.
TUESDAY:
As I mentioned above, I wanted to show range for this item of the week, so on Tuesday I tucked the Cielo tank into a pair of cropped trousers. I accessorized with my trusty ‘H’ Hermes belt and black patent YSL wedges. 
My favorite thing about these shoes is the gold treatment on the sides of the wedges — LOVE it!
WEDNESDAY:
When I’m not sure what to wear, I go for the ‘band’ look. I suppose this outfit references an ’80s band, but it was fun! I wore my Cielo tank with orange Habitual jeans (yes, Habitual makes orange jeans!), sequin Versace platforms, and Isharya necklace.
THURSDAY:
Back to normalcy on Thursday with a very NYC outfit. I wore my Cielo tank with AG skinny jeans, cropped Armani blazer (that I scored 5 years ago for $150!!), and Cynthia Vincent buckle wedges. The accessory situation was minimal, although I did throw on an awesome teal Dolan jersey fringe scarf.
FRIDAY:
This outfit turned out cute. I tucked my Cielo tank into a high-waisted mini skirt and added my skinny Fendi belt and a cropped fur jacket. I completed the outfit with YSL patent sandals and a large gold Bing Bang cocktail ring. I even busted out my Fendi spy bag from 4 years ago — this was my first designer purchase after starting at Bluefly.
I hope you enjoyed my looks from last week. This week I am wearing a velvet cobalt blue blazer — the weather forecast for the week looks chilly enough for the extra layer, but we’ll see how it goes. Speaking of which, since the hot summer months are upon us I’d like to tweak the 1×5 format to 1 trend or theme 5 ways instead of 1 item. (Basically, I anticipate sweat and can’t realistically wash or dry clean pieces daily. I also don’t want to smell at work.)

Last week I wore acropped ruffle jacket, although it ended up being more of my office cover-up since it was so hot and humid out. Here’s how I rocked the jacket five ways…
MONDAY (MEMORIAL DAY):
On Memorial Day my husband and I had a brunch date with friends in SoHo. So under the cropped jacket, I wore faded denim cut-offs, a zebra-print top, Manolo suede booties and an Hermes belt.
TUESDAY:
On Tuesday it was back to the grind, but I wanted hit the office in summer style. I wore a printed dress and sequined Prada pumps under my jacket and cinched the dress at the waist with a lovely Chanel belt. You can’t tell so much from the picture, but I die over the gold painted on the buckle!
WEDNESDAY:
After Tuesday’s lady-like look, I wore something a little younger-looking on Wednesday. I added a striped uneven hem Wyatt tank, sequin mini skirt, Isharya necklace, and suede Manolo booties with the cropped jacket. I met friends after-work downtown and this outfit transitioned perfectly.
THURSDAY:
This ended up being a cutesy vintage look. I wore a silk clover printed dress under my cropped jacket and layered a Jardin necklace, which is hard to see from this picture. I finished off the look with sequined Manolos.
FRIDAY:
I wore flat sandals on Friday, which I hardly ever do AND I cut off 10 inches of my hair the evening before, so it was a big day. For the debut of my new ‘do, I wore a denim zip and I’m excited about styling it differently every day.

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great long Memorial Day weekend and are looking forward to the shorter four day week — I know I am.
Thanks to everyone who voted last week! It seems that the “Betty Draper” look I wore the week before last took top prize.
Last week, I wore a fuchsia top five times. (If I never wear it again, I will have gotten my money’s worth.)
MONDAY:
I suppose I felt girlier than usual on Monday. This could have been related to the bright pink nail polish I selected for my manicure the day before, or maybe it was just because my item of the week was so feminine. At any rate, I paired my fuchsia top with a cropped Robert Rodriguez blazer, my favorite AG skinny jeans, and sequin leopard-printManolos. And of course, I added a few Chamak bracelets.
TUESDAY:
This is my favorite outfit of the week. You can appreciate the fuchsia top in its full glory — I bet you didn’t know there was a flower and pleated detailing on one side! — because I made it the focal point of Tuesday’s look. To the blouse, I added a black mini and patent Versace platform sandals. I accessorized with an Isharya horn necklace and an awesome Bing Bang cocktail ring.
WEDNESDAY:
It was 90 degrees on Wednesday so I wanted to wear something summer-y and cool. I added a floral tiered skirt, Prada wedges, and Chamak bracelets to my fuchsia top. I had ogled the Prada shoes for months and could not resist when I noticed them on Bluefly! I wore the linen blazer in the office where the A/C is quite strong.
THURSDAY:
I met a friend for drinks after work on Thursday so I wanted to wear something a little flashier. I paired my fuchsia top with black sequin leggings, black bib necklace. In the office, I covered up with a cropped black blazer. Love how the pink pops against the black.
FRIDAY:
On Friday, I wore my fuchsia top with AG skinny jeans, a grey DVF blazer, Isharya horn necklace, and Dior sandals. There’s a faint fuchsia plaid pattern on the blazer which you can’t really see in the photos, but it’s what convinced me that I need to buy it. Well that, and the impeccable fit — I know DVF is known first for wrap dresses, but she makes pretty awesome blazers too!

Hey, everyone! Thanks to everyone who voted last week! I just took a final look at the results and it seems the cropped ruffle jacket won; however, when I checked Tuesday morning, the striped jersey dress had a slight lead so I went with that instead.
I am a sucker for suggestions though, so next week I’ll wear the ruffle jacket five ways. (A silk fuschia uneven hem blouse has been selected for this week because I discovered it this weekend still with tags on it!!! I purchased it several months ago.)
But, I’m getting ahead of myself! Here’s how I wore my striped jersey dress last week:
MONDAY:
I was confused on this day. I think a lot of it had to do with that fact that our flight from Mexico arrived at JFK at 11pm the night before. I woke up in a daze, put an outfit together, and hoped for reader guidance. I am wearing a striped jersey dress, cropped ruffle jacket, plain black leggings, a chunky bib necklace, and black espadrilles. It’s sort of a sporty-Americana look.
TUESDAY:
It was cold on Tuesday so I added a black turtleneck under the jersey dress and a chunky bib necklace over it. I didn’t want to look too cutesy so I finished the look with my open-toe black knee high boots. I really liked this outfit — it felt original and creative.
WEDNESDAY:
I loved wearing my open-toe black knee high boots so much on Tuesday that I created an outfit around them for Wednesday. It was still a little chilly so I added jeans and a black cropped blazer to the jersey dress. Oh, and of course some Chamak bracelet action and a lovely printed Kowboys scarf!
THURSDAY:
On Thursday, I went with a “groupie” or band look. I added a sequin vest to my jersey dress and classed it all up with a Fendi skinny belt and basic black Louboutins. Oh, and again, I added a couple of Chamak bracelets because as far as I’m concerned, you can never have enough bling!
FRIDAY:
Friday ended up looking a bit Betty-Draper-Patriotic, no? Of course, it was completely inadvertent at the time, but I suppose I finally caved to the red, white & blue stripes. To the jersey dress, I added a cream button-front shirt – which I buttoned half way and then knotted — and tan Louboutins I bought last summer. These shoes are great, i.e., super comfy because of the thick platform up front. Plus, they make me so tall!
