Andrew Marc‘s new ad campaign is based on the popular book of the moment, Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s inevitable that this erotic novel is influencing the fashion world! Photographed by Marc’s creative director, Chris Gbur, the ad consists of 2008 Miss Universe winner Dayana Mendoza as Anatasia Steele and former Scottish rugby player Thom Evans as Christian Grey. For the campaign, Evans has a low hanging towel while Mendoza wears a zipped down dress. The ads will run in the September and October issues of Glamour and People Style Watch. Clever marketing!

Olympic weightlifter Sarah Robles was determined to find something to fit her 275-lb frame. She was disappointed that she could not find the right clothes to fit her body type and sense of style.
Jill Alexander, who specializes in clothing for plus-size women, was able to help. Alexander and Robles got together and created a collection for Robles for interviews and press events. “She’s the perfect role model,” says Alexander. “She’s one of the top athletes in the world. She’s not unhealthy, she’s not lazy, but she has trouble finding clothes that fit well. She’s empowering women to speak out and say, ‘I deserve better from the fashion industry.’”
Robles loves the clothing. “I packed one of her yellow wrap [dresses] with fun dots and squares on it, along with a taupe lacey top,” says Robles. “They make me feel gorgeous, confident and flirty.” Sarah is on a mission to change the way plus sized women and girls view themselves. GO SARAH!

Jason Wu just announced the launch of Miss Wu, a collection that more people can afford! Wu is branching out from his sophisticated, sexy silhouettes and reaching toward a younger crowd. The collection will exclusively be sold in Nordstrom stores starting in January and then will located to other stores after the first year. Are you excited? I definitely am!
The line is simliar to his Target line. It will be more relaxed and vintage but at the same time feminine. “Instead of just doing ‘Jason Wu-for-less,’ the idea is to explore the other side of myself,” Wu said. “I always see Jason Wu as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am — slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude.”
