Fly Nation

This is not a blog. Okay, technically it is, but the point is, we didn’t create it to dispense lofty fashion counsel from behind oversized Jackie O shades. We built it because we ultimately want to interact with a Fly Nation of fashion lovers of every stripe (or floral). So whether you’re a professional fashion personality, card-carrying fashionista, or a closet shopaholic, if there’s an insane designer you think EVERYONE should check out, a great article/blog post you want to share/rant about, or you simply need to point out how crazy amazing Ann Curry’s been looking on the Today Show lately, this is the place to blog it—or read all about it!

Nanette Lepore Fall 2012: It’s Electric

For a fall/winter collection, Nanette Lepore went extremely bright with color. Lime green, bright reds, vibrants blues and deep purples spoke to the tone of the show. You could easily mistake this Fall 2012 collection for Spring 2012.

What constitutes this as a Fall collection are the fabrics and pieces. Tweed coats, wool sweaters and cotton dresses paraded down the runway. Pair all this with the models’ fun attitudes and the show was entertaining to watch.

You could also see influence from the 1970s. You could feel a lot of “flower power” radiating off the clothing. The music was upbeat and bouncy so the show was easily one of the more fun to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the collection!

Simon Spurr Fall 2012: Cunningly Deceptive

Simon Spurr Fall 2012 is a droolfest–I just can’t close my mouth at every look; each look was jaw dropping-ly amazing!

There were hidden gems in this menswear line that I found fascinating. For one, a few suits and shirts had a variation of the houndstooth pattern. It isn’t quite houndstooth but it’s close enough to compare to. The grey suit below is a must have and the most unique suit I have seen so far in NYFW.

I also love(!) the wool coat seen above. The arms are made of alligator!! I could not peal my eyes away as I watched it come down the runway. I actually let out an “OMG!” and shrieked. Amazing!

Simon Spurr always knows how to cleverly create a menswear line that separates the creativity from the other menswear lines.

Marlon Gobel Fall 2012: The Dapper Trapper

photos by danchiz.com

The man who wears Marlon Gobel Fall 2012 can lure in anyone he lusts after. You will be envious of the man wearing this collection. He is extremely sleek, dapper and playful.

What I love most about this collection is how it takes classic menswear yet puts a fun spin on the look. Marlon added some glitter where you would not expect that to ever go. He threw a plaid you would normally see on a button front shirt onto a coat. Plus, he took purple and made it fun and masculine.

The bullet proof looking vest with glitter shapes on the front and back intrigued me the most. It’s a unique concept. I don’t know how many people would wear this out, but definitely would help land you a street style photo during Fashion Week.

Mathieu Mirano Fall 2012: Angel in the Night

The evening wear in Mathieu Mirano Fall 2012 was heavenly sent–light, shiny, and pretty. Only an angel would wear these dresses. The sheen from the above dresses immediately attracted me to investigate further. I fell in love with the color and the way the dress falls on the model. I would love to see a starlet sport this dress on a red carpet.

Then my eyes turned to the gleam of a silver dress. It looked so light and stunning that I was completely drawn to it. I definitely want to pay attention to who ends up wearing it.

You can tell Mathieu drew inspiration from Chinese fashion; it’s apparent in the type floral prints and colors seen in the collection (red and gold).

Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012: The Glitz & The Glam

photos by danchiz.com

Monique Lhuillier wants you to feel and look like a celebrity in her Fall 2012 collection. You could easily picture the likes of Lea Michele, Kelly Osbourne, Emma Stone, Dianna Agron and tons more gracing the red carpet with an evening gown or going to an event in one of the sparkly dresses.

Red, black and gold swept through the color giving it the glam appeal. The models looked stunning in every look.

The most unique look was the fiery red lava-like print; it was exploding with ferociousness. You would easily look too hot to handle.
