From Duro Oluwo to Mimi Plange to Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis’ CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund-nominated Suno, Africa-inspired fashion has taken hold–and the Editor-in-Chief of Arise Magazine, Helen Jennings has penned a new book on the movement.
The African fashion magazine has made a brand of itself pushing African fashion talent. Everyone from Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba to Burkinabe model Georgie Badiel has graced the cover, and for the past three spring seasons, the pub has produced epic group shows at New York Fashion Week, introducing the talents of Fati Asibelua, Lisa Folawiyo, Deola Sagoe, Jacques van der Watt and Danica Lepen to New York’s fashion set.
According to the book’s description on Amazon, it will trace the African influences of ’60s pioneers Yves Saint Laurent and Paco Rabanne with profiles on their present-day sartorial heirs. This is totally going on my Black Friday/Cyber Monday list.
