Since the majority of us don’t have a budget for Couture, the Couture Shows usually serve as a great reference point for what to expect on the red carpet, plus broader trends that will hit the streets in a more pedestrian iteration. From Armani Prive to Valentino, here’s what we expect to see.
1. DRESSES OVER PANTS
Yes, this troublesome trend could be coming back. VERY few can pull it off, but we’re sure Lady Gaga/Rihanna will try.

2. LENGTHS THAT SHOW OFF SHOES
During last night’s SAG Awards, shoe designer Brian Atwood tweeted Rachel Zoe: “Raining in LA. Good! They will pull up the dresses to show their shoes!!!” Atwood will be happy to know that the stars will have more dresses to choose from with shoe-friendly hems.

3. BOWS AND FEATHERS
The past few seasons have seen a proliferation of bows and feathers and from the looks of the couture collections, there are more on the way.

While one clearly roars “manly, man!” and the other quietly murmurs “gentleman” both the combat boot and the suede loafer should be held in high regard in your closet. From the red carpet to the telecast itself, last night’s SAG Awards were a snore with no real noteworthy looks to speak of. As far as the trends go, here’s what we spotted: COLOR…reds (Tina Fey), oranges, ices & nudes (Amy Adams); PRINTS…florals & watercolors (Claire Danes, Mila Kunis); LACE (Helena Bonham Carter, January Jones); MEN…monochrome “wiseguy” suits (Christian Bale, John Krasinski), statement ties (Justin Timberlake, Taye Diggs) and pocket squares (Ernest Borgnine). But overall, it was an “eh” night — perhaps for the stars too, as they look ahead to the Oscars. In any event, Bluefly’s stylist aka #taneshaBF and I (#nanaBF) did manage to amuse ourselves on Twitter. Take a look.

“I feel so taken advantage of!” Kim Kardashian wailed about the fashion spread that remained nameless — though it was easy to make out the W Magazine cover that was blurred out for TV, and presumably legal reasons. According to Kim, she was told that artwork and architectural landscapes would be strategically covering her private parts, only to find that by art, W meant graphic title treatments and silver paint. With nothing left to do since the magazine had already been printed and shipped, Kris Jenner, Kim’s mom and manager, advised her to “own it” as a celebration of the female body. Ladies, did you feel “celebrated”?
