Hi, everyone! I hope you had a great weekend.
I’m a BIG fur person – in addition to sparkle and prints – so, last week I chose a faux fur vest to wear 5 ways .
Here’s how I styled it:
MONDAY:

I think the vest got off to a good start. I like adding a little edge to my vintage and boho tendencies, so I paired my floral tunic and vest with French Connection shiny leggings, and silver-toed Dior boots.
TUESDAY:

I am not entirely sure what I was thinking on Tuesday. I wanted to wear a dress and that was about it… maybe there was also some fleeting inspiration from Nicole Richie and her uber-boho style. The result was my vest over a red silk floral-print dress, black tights, Gucci Babouska booties and layered necklaces. (Someone at work said I looked like Christmas, which is when I knew I had struck out!)
WEDNESDAY:

On Wednesday, I had a clearer image of the outfit I wanted to wear. I wanted something Kate Moss-ish, i.e. grungy but in a cool and not-too grungy sort of way. Know what I mean? So I went a little mono-chromatic and put my vest over a silky grey blouse and faded grayish-blue ripped jeans. (My favorite part of the top are the grey leather epaulets on the shoulder which you can’t see — I love shoulder details.) I finished off the look with crystal-studded black Prada booties.
THURSDAY:

My inspiration was Russian folklore. Maybe it was the Winter Olympics, but more likely, it was one of the New York Fashion Week WWD features on fashionable Russians that steered me in this direction. I paired the vest with a floral print dress, black tights, and crystal-studded black Prada bootie”>Prada booties (the same as yesterday). The real finishing touch was the Chanel purse, which in my mind, is how any fashionable Russian would have finished off this look!
FRIDAY:

Some people put extra effort into dressing up when they have plans after work; I put extra effort into looking ‘more normal.’ I planned to meet up with some friends at a pub that evening and tried to look as appropriate as possible. This meant a long sleeve rugby shirt and skinny jeans with my vest. Perhaps the Gucci Babouska booties don’t completely match, but I needed at least one thing that felt like me!
Next up is a plaid peasant blouse…
until next week,
XO
