Port Authority Gets a Fashion Division

port-authority-sign-blueflys-blog-flypaper.jpgIn order to make Eighth Avenue more appealing and showcase the talent of emerging artists and designers The Fashion Center Business Improvement District and the Times Square Alliance have created Blank SL8, a street-front Port Authority space that will spotlight New York-based fashion, design and visual arts created by New York-based artists and designers.
Emerging talents’ work will be showcased on a rotating basis in the 2,500-square-foot venue for only $1 a month. Located on the northwest corner of Eighth Avenue and West 41st Street, Blank SL8 is a prime spot for catching the attention of passersby, including the 200,000 commuters who trek through the Port Authority each day.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out, but it sounds lovely and that corner of NYC certainly can use it.
