In Defense of the Jumpsuit

Disclaimer alert: I own no fewer than a dozen jumpsuits.
For those of us living anywhere but LA, Florida, the Caribbean or Africa, it doesn’t feel like Spring is coming, but it is — in just two months and I want to suggest a Can’t Live Without piece for the impending warmth: The Jumpsuit. The Jumpsuit has been poo-pooed alike by editors and fashionistas with trepidations that jumpsuits only work on the skinny and the tall, and another fashion contingent with bad memories of the ’70s. Yet another faction argues against the jumpsuit’s impracticality when it comes to bathroom runs. All (semi-)valid cons, but its main PRO cancels the rest out.
Like a dress, the jumpsuit takes the headache out of what to wear under or on top. Just slip on some shoes (go with heels if you’re afraid of looking short and stumpy) with a clutch (for evening) or satchel and you’re good to go. One note: there are tons of different types of jumpsuits — slim-fit, sporty, aviator-inspired, Ziggy Stardust-esque, evening glam, you name it. The key is to find the fit that works best for you.
If you’re petite, go with platforms, or a jumpsuit with short or cropped pants. If you’re curvy, play up the hourglass with a onesy that’s got widelegs, then cinch with a wide belt.
