Bold prints will make a big showing this spring and fall, and with that trend comes the usual array of ripoff artists and copycats. Lots of designers pick out designs from pattern designers at specialized print expo shows, where they can buy copyrighted artwork that is exclusive to them, but the trouble doesn’t stop there because you can’t copyright an entire garment (despite this, DVF still tried to sue Forever 21 for interpreting some of her designs; the original is pictured at left). But believe it or not, this may change if a new fashion-friendly copyright bill passes muster in Congress. [via WWD]
