Italy’s first ever fashion strike went off with more of a whimper than a roar. (Models “crossing their legs” for three hours is not quite the stuff of revolution.) Thus far, the only result of the catwalk walkout is my new favorite word: “esterofilia,” the “love of all things foreign.” Strikers say esterofilia is ruining the Italian modeling industry. In the words of Italian model and wordsmith extraordinaire Eva Riccobono, left, “Esterofilia brings absurdities.” Indeed, it does.
